What started as a beautifully relaxing Sunday ended my bedmate and I stranded at the market with bags full of dairy products and sushi. Our 12 year old car wouldn’t start. Dead as a doornail with the electronics acting as though they were possessed. In utter disbelief that out of the blue she would strand us I called roadside assist while my bedmate took the cold goods back in the store for them to hold while we waited. It wasn’t but two minutes after he left I noticed the dome lights came back on so I tried starting the car again and viola she started. Quickly I called my bedmate to come back leaving the car running. She evidently had just enough juice to get us home for as soon as we shut her off she wouldn’t restart. I knew right then and there we would be shopping for a new car this weekend. Not sure what had gone wrong I was just hoping we could inexpensively fix her for a trade in.
8:30 a.m. Monday morning we were up calling a tow truck, looking up rental cars, notifying the dealership, and trying to figure out in our sleepy haze where to shop for a new car. There were only two places in our minds Chrysler and Mercedes. After driving the new 300’s and being disappointed I asked my bedmate to stop at the Mercedes dealership next door for a look. Figuring they would be outside our price range I wanted to see what my options were. If I was going to spend the kind of money I was looking at spending I was at least going to get something that made me happy. That’s when I found it… this cute little silver Sport C250. I immediately asked for a test drive. The first thing the salesman asked was, Who has the heavier foot? That would be me I said so I took the second drive in the Luxury C250, then an upgraded Sport C250. I didn’t want to believe it but I think I was sold after sitting in the back of the first test drive. Now it was a matter of figuring out how to afford it. I was sitting in the Mercedes dealership when the shop called and said it was my car battery that caused all the mayhem, at $300, I knew more expenses would be on their way.
Tuesday I was up again at 8ish returned the rental car, picked up and paid for repairs with my old car, and drove directly to the Mercedes dealership. Somewhere around 6:30/7:00 p.m. my bedmate and I drove off the lot with our brand new car. I’m still in a bit of shock over the whole turn of events. I woke up Sunday in a great mood and having a good day to walk out Tuesday with a new car. Eventually the shock will wear off, I won’t be so sleep deprived, and then I’m going to love it.
